| The Synthesis Coalition was a union of eight diverse institutions funded by the National Science Foundation to design, implement and assess new approaches to undergraduate engineering education that emphasize multidisciplinary synthesis, teamwork and communication, hands-on and laboratory experiences, open-ended problem formulation and solving, and examples of "best practices" from industry. Together, these institutions contributed a broad geographical diversity, a history of collaboration in education, a balance of sizes, missions, and institutional types, and a shared commitment to restructuring engineering education. |
| Synthesis interdisciplinary projects include: artifact/ mechanical dissection; * computer-integrated architecture, engineering and construction; * mechatronics; * multimedia case studies of engineering design; * spatial reasoning and learning styles. |

Are you an author of high quality resources in engineering education? Increase its dissemination and access by cataloging it in the Engineering Pathway. Note registration / login is required first. All newly cataloged resources are shown on the EP home page and made available to the public through an RSS feed. See example of our RSS feed of new resources below the search menu to the right. Our "Today in History" blog connects historical events in technology to current research and practice. Search for an event on our Today in History database. The resource page for our blog lists all of the blogs we have cataloged to date. Use our inline frame to search over EP from your own website (see example to the right) or display recent news in engineering education (example below right). |
